What causes a “Heater Break” alarm to trigger falsely? Jul 24

False triggers can occur if:

  • The load current is too low to be measured accurately (use a CT with appropriate ratio).
  • The alarm threshold is set too close to the normal operating current, and slight mains variations cross it.
  • In zero-cross mode with a very short cycle time, the current reading may fluctuate. Setting a small hysteresis or filter can help.
  • For multiple parallel elements, ensure the detection threshold is set just below the expected current of the full array.
